Just wondering rather its true the truck will be fine running it, that is running plus when it calls for premium? I just talked to a guy at a dealership who works there by the way and he said it can run fine with plus. Gmc sierra denali 6.2 L. I asked one of my friends who has a denali suv with the 6.0 engine, body style before the new style out now, actually the style with the round front and he says his calls for regular:dunno: I was thinking they all would call for premium.

I don't even know what my truck calls for ... I rotate between the three grades and it doesn't seem to make the slightest difference to the way the 6.2 runs.

From my manual:

Use premium unleaded gasoline with a posted octane rating of 91 or higher. You can also use regular unleaded gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher, but the vehicle's acceleration could be slightly reduced, and a slight audible knocking noise, commonly referred to as spark knock, might be heard. If the octane is less than 87, you might notice a heavy knocking noise when you drive. If this occurs, use a gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher as soon as possible. Otherwise, you could damage the engine. If heavy knocking is heard when using gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher, the engine needs service.

I think there is no difference, 100K running on 87-88 oct. When i get 93 i can sorta tell on start up maybe its a little louder and no mpg difference.

But let the arguing begin because people SWEAR by 93+ oct.

I say follow the manual. My manual says my truck should use regular, so that's what I put on it. My last car's manual said to use premium, so I used premium (even though it read exactly the same as what was posted above). Who else would know better than the people who built the engine?

I would just run Premium. That extra .10 cents a gallon aint gonna kill you.

I have never run anything but 87 in mine. 95k on the clock and she's still going strong. I think the key word on these trucks is "premium fuel RECOMMENDED" other more performance oriented vehicles say "premium unleaded fuel only."

It's ultimately your choice, I've saved some cash with all the miles I put on though.

I thought in my manuel for an 07 Yukon Denali that it recommended regular 87 octane. I thought it was odd so it sticks out in my mind. I figured for a 6.2L that they would recommend premium. I could be wrong. I'll check tomorrow.
