I can confirm that if you upreade to the 0411 pcm ( i got mine from lextech from LS1tech.com that did my setup up for me) that the scan gauge 2 is actively receiving and processing for display x-gauges for transmission temperature on the 4l60e and engine torque on the L31 engine. i have only tried these to so far but will try others later.

here is the coding i used:

Engine Torque
txd=6C10F12219DE01
rxf=0462851906DE
rxd=3010
mth=000A00020000
name=TRQ
reads inFt-Lbs

Trans Fluid Temperature (Exc Allison)
txd=6C10F122194001
rxf=046205190640
rxd=3008
mth=00090005FFD8
name=TFT
read in Degrees Fahrenheit

The problem with the trans temp + Scangauge2

It shows the temp by Fahrenheit :mad: I have to convert it by mind every time I look at it!

Other than that congrats on the new PCM I have to ask what new now?

Why you did it?

And how much it costs?

i paid about $160 for a reprogrammed used 0411 pcm that was set up for my specific drivetrain.

the main reason for changing it is programmability for tuning, electric fan control, and if you want to spend money on more parts even converting the obs vortec's to coil near/over plug distributor-less ignition system. which is tempting in itself.

and the scan gauge can be setup too read in Fahrenheit or Celsius.

did not quite understand the first question.

How do they program it? Do they need to test the car or by Dino reading?

True it can be setup but the x gauge code I have only shows the Fahrenheit for the trans temp

Why you did the PCM swap?

the pcm is programmed with tuning software with a file specific to the engine/tranny/ drive type data that was extracted/built a while back from other pcms such as the 2002 express vans which had still used the vortec 350 setup. then specifics of my vehicles were altered such as vin, gear ratio, tire size and such. eventually i will re-tune the performance with efilive but have not started that yet. other then programming the pcm your pcm harnesses need to be re-pinned because instead of four smaller harnesses you now have two larger ones. that can take a few hours and a few extra wires need to be installed or modified in some way. afterwards you should get it started by your second attempt to start and after maybe 10-20 miles of varied driving the pcm will learn the variances in your system and be just fine. no dynomometer testing is required.

setting of the temperature measurement for the scangauge 2 is done in the initial settings setup when first installed as pointed out on page 11 of the users manual. however if it is just the xgauge that does not change how it reads you will need to contact the manufacturer for a possible variation of the code to see if that would work.

the main reason for changing it is programmability. done for tuning, electric fan control, and if you want to spend money on more parts even converting the obs vortec's to coil near/over plug distributor-less ignition system. which is tempting in itself. it has better processing power. for more info look here.
