I never thought I would be saying this. But after reading several posts on here about professional detailers (wish I had saved the links) showing their customers what they use on dirty leather seats and door panels - Scrubbing Bubbles.

I tried Scrubbing Bubbles.

It's amazing. My seats and door panels weren't junkyard dirty. But they had several years of grime built up in the creases of the leather, especially all over the steering wheel and console lid, and untold crud in the door panels. Which is all gone now.

Scrubbing Bubbles is the perfect combination of strong cleaner - without going overboard and ruining something. The steering wheel alone had areas that were just black from crud. Like a good 1 inch by three inch section of the back of the steering wheel - in several places was black. It's perfectly grey leather now. With no residue, discoloration or any other problem. Even the stitching is clean.

I sprayed it on liberally, scrubbed it with a plastic brush from the dollar store, wiped it down with a towel and the results were amazing. I could have used simple green or any number of other products. I had purchased a specific upholstery cleaner and that didn't even clean as well as the Scrubbing Bubbles.

So do yourself a favor. And get some cheap ass Scrubbing Bubbles the next time you want to clean a dirty car.

If it's dirty.

Just to be on the safe side I wouldn't suggest this stuff - everytime you clean. (not that I think it would hurt anything I've let this stuff stand for a few days even and just some white residue was left that wiped right off - in one small area where it did not all get wiped off the first time (run on sentence complete! lol.).)

But when the leather has that built up black grime in the creases or if your seats and panels are really really dirty. This is the stuff.

I also got it all over the carpet and other places in the car while doing this - and the aluminum door sills, all over the dash and controls. It didn't stain or hurt anything. And it's been 3 days since I first started cleaning with this stuff.

Probably the only place I wouldn't trust this on is the cheap ass heater control knobs with that paint that comes off way to easily from just your fingernail hitting it. But those will get damaged if you so much as look at them. But even still I'm confident you could wipe those down with this too and it wouldn't hurt them.

I've got a new cleaning product in my arsenal and it kicks ass. Give it a try.

I used it on my leather seats when I bought new bottom covers, and I was able to clean the old parts of the seats so they matched the new parts. It does work great but I heard to only use it very occasionally.

Be careful.... it will dry out your leather. Any cleaners will actually. It’s just like your skin. When you scrub it, it strips the natural oils that protect it. Just like putting lotion on skin afterwards. So you need to follow up a leather cleaning with a good leather conditioner.
