Seat belt buckle tore my 3rd row seat

I normally leave my 3rd row seats folded up when not in use.Well,yesterday I put them down to put my little girl and her friend in the back and the damn buckle on the right rear seat somehow punctured the seat bottom.These seats where in perfect shape and barley used before this.I wonder if this has happened to anyone else?
