My kid stepped on the captain chair armrest in our 2011 GMC Yukon and broke the bolt and armrest off. Has anyone had to fix this? The armrest is in good condition, I just need to remove the broken bolt from chair and replace it from what I can see?

Can you post some pictures of what you have?

ya we need pictures, the bolt enters from the arm rest into the seat frame and works like a sleeve so the arm rest can move up/down, should be a relatively easy fix, my kids stripped my arm rest stop so I had a shop weld a new stop on it and then bolted it back on and used some loctite so the bolt wouldn't come loose anymore either. from what you are describing you should be able to drill out/easy out the broken bolt and then install a new one

Here’s a couple Picts of the chair and bolt sticking out. I’m assuming this bolt screws in the the chair with standard threading (counter clockwise to remove)? I tried to JB Weld a nut on it then back the bolt out but that didn’t work, JB Weld isn’t strong enough. Thinking I’ll try to drill it now and see if I can get it out with an easy out. Thoughts?

Can you get a pair of vice grips locked on to the exposed portion and see if you can get it out that way?

If you drill it out, might try and find some left hand twist bits. They work well as they try and loosen the bolt as it grabs.

Good ideas. I’m not familiar with “code grips”. Same as vice grips?

So, I exposed it further and it looks to me like this is a welded post that would hold the arm on the chair?

Well, it’s good to have friends that are welders. The bolt doesn’t unscrew so we welded the bolt back together. A little more slop in the armrest now but functional and seems to be strong enough (until the next 160 pound kid decided to step on it. Thanks everyone
