I just got my Yukon last week (2007 SLE) and this light popped on and went off once I turned the car off and on again. The light has not come on again since, but should there be reason for concern?

I would be concerned if I was you.

Most people do not use the four wheel drive often enough to keep everything working as it should and to keep everything lubricated.

Basically they buy a four wheel drive vehicle - when they don't need a four wheel drive, maybe just because it looks cool, or maybe because they figure that they might need it one or two days a year.

So the four wheel drive sits there and things gets gummed up and when you go to use it, the motor which shifts the transfer case in and out of four wheel drive gets stuck.

Sometimes it might get stuck in four wheel drive, where the indicator says you are in two wheel drive, but the transfer case is in four wheel drive. Other times it just won't go into four wheel drive.

If you just bought it, take it back and demand that the dealer repairs it and don't let them bull chit you into thinking that there is nothing wrong.
Most times it is as simple as a bad control module in the dash - to something as complicated as something wrong inside of the transfer case.

Either way, it is going to cost you money. That is probably why the last owner got rid of it and probably why you got such a good deal on it when you bought it. Neither the owner nor the dealer wanted to pay to repair it.

I took it to the dealer today and they said the module needed to be reset and to monitor it closely, The truck is under warranty up to 48k miles so I have about 22k left. Hopefully it will be all good. Thanks for the reply though!
