Got a 2003 Yukon. Had this problem for a while now and researched it extensively here and elsewhere. Bottom line is, every time I start my vehicle, within the first 5 minutes or so (sometimes it's immediate, other times delayed) the error message pops up on the DIC and the ding bell dings exactly 33 times. Exactly. Every time. In the event that it stops short and only dings 32 times...wait for it, then comes the 33rd. Point is, it's likely the brake vacuum motor or the ABS module or some crap that's not extremely vital that would cost me more money than I can or want to spend to get fixed. I live in the south. It doesn't snow here, and travel is pretty lax. I can deal without ABS.

I just want it to stop dinging. Preferably just for this issue, because I like the low fuel ding. Years ago I went under the dash and disconnected what I thought/hoped would solve it, but it just terminated the door ding. And that's great, I didn't like it either. But I want to know if there is something I can do to keep it from making 33 loud dings in a row. It's such a pain in the ass that when I first get in my car if I need to make a phone call, I have to wait for that to happen before I make the call. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Love this place!

I don't think you are going to get the answer here you are looking for. I think I speak for 99.9% of the forum. Get your brakes fixed, they are nothing to fool around with. You can bailing wire your throttle together or JB Weld your rocker arms but don't mess around with your brakes.

Appreciate the response, and I hear you, but there's quite a few other threads around here mentioning the same problem and it isn't high on their priority list. To each his own.

I guess it depends if you have a wife and kids, if you love them...fix it. if your single, well then it's your own life. But what about the other people on the road? minivan full of kids and a soccer mom? You get the idea. I thing GM should have a limp mode for the brake system, 25mph.

Alright, thanks guys. There's something wrong with my BCM. I need new shoes on the front. Just put new ones on the back a couple months ago. There's nothing extremely detrimental with my brake system. I just want to stop the dinging.

see if this applies to you but probably not. my abs/parking light wouldnt' come on till i hit a bump. basically the solder joints inside the abs unit go bad after a while but if you have any basic soldering ability, its super simple to resolder them. the hardest part is getting the module apart and sealing it back up again. i did this about 6 months ago and haven't seen an abs/brake light on since.
