I've read ALOT of post about this but I'm curious if it's something I did??
I recently replaced the rear wnd in my 05 tahoe,I also did hub bearings in front with timken s.Took a trip to san antonio and back (about 600 miles) and all was fine.Got in truck last nite to go to store and it felt like the e brake was on,it wasnt,I gave it some gas aND there was a loud pop, then a clunk as I rolled forward.Thought I broke an axle, tore into it this morning and the e brake pad had broke..Changed that but I had accidentally pressed the brake pedal while caliper was off the disc,I had to use c clamp to compress the caliper piston back to get it on.Got it all together and the service brake system message is on and the e brake light is on also..Wtf???Everything was fine till the e brake pad broke.Any suggestiins? It has brake fluid..

The plug on the valve ?I actually unplugged it,then I disconnected the battery ,nothing has helped. It's just odd that it came on after having to get the caliper piston pushed back with c clamp.I've read it's an abs module that could be the cause??Just weird ,it has been fine till last night and the whole e brake issue

Is it possible that you may have bumped the wheel speed sensor wiring when working on that wheel? What is the exact code that is thrown? Other possibility is if the caliper extended all the way out, it could have possibly pulled the reservoir dry? and gotten air into the brake system? If so you may have to bleed the brake system.

i would try bleeding the brakes old school with someone applying pressure to the pedal. You are simply bumping/centering the proportioning valve. honestly i dont really know if these advanced ABS systems still use a proportioning valve? another option would be to get it on a dirt/gravel road at a safe 20mph and firmly apply the brakes to force a "skid" condition, the pedal should pulsate as abs pump is working and possibly eliminat the dic message in doing so?

@Lit549, post up the code that you're getting. How's the brake fluid level in the reservoir?

The rear end doesn't have a sensor ,or atleast I didn't see one .I'm kinda thinking along the lines of what you said about the air in the system,I had the caliper and disc off and put it in gear,I was trying to eliminate the e brake and caliper as the clunk noise, but my dumbass didn't think about the caliper. One piston extended really far and was a ***** to get it back in.

Ok,got the speed sensor (located on tail shaft of trans) and replaced it,message was still flashing.Bled the brake caliper and the mesage went away.I'm thinking it was just the sensor but it took a minute to recognize the new sensor?Or maybe there was air in the brake line?Idk but it's fixed !!
