Hi,
I searched for this subject but the outcome was nearly nothing. The problem is that I recently bought this Yukon XL 2007 in a bad condition. The X owner didn't fix anything that went wrong. He left it all for me. The service Park Assistance error message in the driver information center is always on. I checked the sensors and I found that the truck had had a light accident at the rear bumper that caused the loss of one sensor and the damage of the harness. I changed all the sensors and the harness yesterday and expected to have the error message vanish. I was upset when I saw the message again with another one telling that Park Assistance is OFF. I pressed its switch but it kept blinking and nothing happened. Can anyone here help me out with this problem? I don't want to go to the stealership as I have paid enough. Any suggestion is highly appreciated. Any question will be answered. Thanks a lot in advance.

make sure you don't have the trailer hitch receiver installed. This can sometimes get picked up by the sensors. Search the other GM truck forums for some other issues on Silverado etc.

you mention body work, are the sensors painted? Many body shops paint the sensors too heavy or with paint that is not compatible with the sensor. You really need to have some one check the codes and observe the data stream from the sensors, trans selector switch, lift gate switch, park brake switch, park assistance switch.

Thank you very much for your comment. I have another brand new harness with brand new sensors. I plugged them in and left them on the ground (face up) in order not to sense any object. The problem is that there are no error codes and no SES. It only says the park assistance is OFF. Is there a way to switch the sensors on and off? If yes, how and where should I search? The scanner that I have is excellent, but it has the capability of accessing park assistance for testing its lights only. All the lights (leds) work fine. I'm really confused as the only switch available is the one on the dashboard under the AC unit controller, and its light is off, meaning, the park assistance should be ON.

park assist

you have to drive the vehicle over 15 mph to reset park assist after it has been turned off. Will need to plug your new known harness and sensors into bumper to do so.
also check your owners manual for dic personalization and see if it allows you to turn off the park assist through the personalization function. you may have to turn it back on there.

Thanks for reminding me of the personalization function. I've just checked it, but it doesn't allow me to adjust the parking assistance function. In addition, I drove the truck yesterday after the installation of the harness and the sensors for about 50km at 120kmh. Any other suggestions are appreciated and welcomed.

park assistance

no other suggestions, probably need to take it to dealer for their diagnosis. They may have a new calibration they can put in the body computer.

Any body else have a suggestion?

There's another part: a relay or "parking module" that's between the sensor harness and the line runs to the front of the vehicle. Cheap part to replace if it isn't faulty sensor. If I recall, it may regulate voltage.

I am about to replace one of my sensors too, but I can't find any good instructions on how to replace one, anyone found a good set of instructions anywhere?
