Setting the Tahoe on fire after this post!!

Ok so the Tahoe for almost a month;it all started wit a rod knock so my original plan was to pay $2750 and get a reman motor so I had half and was saving up the rest so my uncle knew someone that had a low mileage vortec for sale,so after discussing everything with my Dad he said he knew the guy who was selling the motor and that it should be in good shape (even though I couldn't hear it run because it came out of a truck that was rear ended) because he doesn't really half step when he has an interest in cars or motors...Needless to say I bought the engine had my truck towed (6-27-11)to the repair shop so long story short mechanic looks at the motor and says it looks like it was well kept or either has low mileage so at this point I was feeling good that everything was ok with the engine..WRONG!!!!!!...So after 2 WEEKS or waiting on my truck and calling and driving 80 miles round trip to the shop and hearing this excuse and that excuse I find that the truck is having a serious misfire issue and that the cylinder head needs to be changed o and not to mention that the motor sat for quite some time which i wasn't told till it was to late.So I drove the truck for a day to try to free a valve up before changing the head;that didn't work I then took it back to change the head.I asked should I change the other head just in case;he said no everything was ok with it and it was firing excellent..SO AFTER ANOTHER WEEK and trips back and forth to Warren!!!!!!!!!I Called Today 7-20-11 SMFH the mechanic tells me that the computer or whatever is saying misfire again but guess where..the opposite F***ING side and the truck is running like shit again WTF!!!!!! I'm really not understanding WTF is going on and why and i'm $1500 deep

Never buy another "friends" junk unless you eeeee ot in action....sorry about the problems man...gl fixing it though

Believe me im puching and kicking myself....I wish I would of just stuck with my initial plan..im trying not to give up on my truck but the nbs denali xl is looking so much better w/ every new problem thats turning up with my obs

Never buy shit unless it is running or with some sort of guarentee. Live and learn...if you can afford to upgrade do it!

I don't know the mechanics, but you also have to consider the person working on the truck as well. I know SOME people who can take a perfectly good running vehicle and ruin it in short order because they get in a hurry or try to take short cuts like not torqueing stuff properly or whatever.

I would suggest a compression and leak down test before further repair to determine the extent of damage.

you know a brand new chevy L31 (350 vortec) is like just over $2000 right? I have a shit motor right now in mine, I looked at a reman from jasper for more money. Chevey motor it is.
