I know the Tahoe, Yukon, Esc is a big vehicle but I'm just curious if anyone has done any kind of weight reductions for whatever reasons...

Drag racing? Funny. No, I'm just curious if people are taking off unneeded weight.

Hah, yeah I have had the third row out for awhile. I'm not sure that there is anywhere else to easily save weight that wouldn't have other trade offs or take tons of work and/or $.

Oh the Hybrid Tahoe has very light wheels IIRC from the factory.

Would taking out the seat really be beneficial in saving weight for the hassle? Then you have to store it and trip over it..

Not so serious... :jester:

Removing weight from a tahoe is like asking a elephant to go on a diet, its silly.
You must be worried about MPG.

Pro tip, get rid of the gas hog tahoe for a MPG vehicle.

But yess there are many ways to reduce weight. and they all cost alot of money.
So much in fact, you will never get it back in gas savings over a 15 year period.

Reduce un-sprung weight, aka light weight suspension and brakes.
Remove the nice insulated carpet for cheap non insulated.
Remove all OEM sound deadening.
Remove all audio, AC/Heat, electrical components.
remove dash in favor of custom Aluminum dash on driver side only to hold tach and a few gauges.
Replace all of those comfy seats with Kirky aluminum racing seats.
Remove all interior paneling.
Light weight wheels. Race stars are currently one of the lightest.
Carbon fiber hood, doors, rear hatch.
Speed glass.
remove roof rack and all body molding.
Remove bumpers in favor of roll pans.
Light weight aluminum one piece driveshaft.
Tubular trans crossmember.
10 gallon fuel cell. <--- lol

This should pull a couple thousand pounds out and get you started on a reduced weight Tahoe.
O yea, remove spare tire for a instant 7mpg and 33hp/47Tq.

But why would someone do all of that? RACE TAHOE! VROOOM! :roflbow:
The list goes on and on and is expensive and this is just the start.
Don't bother. :)

the only realistic thing you can do imo is pull the third row but what is that? A bit over 100lbs? I keep mine in a storage unit. Pulling roof rack is a good option too but again how much weight will that remove?

I do plan to pull my roof rack but that's just due to imo being bulky and ugly. I plan to replace with escalade roof rack. Any takers on a z71 rack? ;)
