Most know I have a slight obsession with lights, always have even since i was a little kid. Which comes to the conclusion that I'm still a little kid who plays with trucks.

Anyway show off your oem or custom , led or non led lighting upgrades/mods for your interior so we can spread some knowledge and ideas

Let me start with one. For some reason none of the tahoes came with center console lights, even the fully loaded one...which i have, so I added one. I did check the esky and denali center console to see of I can just swap out the liner but that was a no go. Either way I had fun doing this mod.
I put the light housing on the drivers side so it shines somewhat twords the passenger side with no distraction to the driver . Used a pressure switch from a nbs glove box for on/off wired directly to the battery.
I went to the salvage yard and picked out a interior light housing that fit my needs. I wanted something low maintenence and the bulb (194) can be replaced instead of with a strip if one light goes out the whole thing is toast or just looks ugly.
If I remember this particular housing came out of a mid 2000 vw.
Used a empty led 194 base as a lead from the pressure switch

That's pretty cool! I never thought about that. My 2006 denali doesn't have one either. I guess I don't go into my console enough to need a light haha. That's a really cool mod though!

You can't miss something if you never had it lol.
I was adding a aux plug and other mods so while I had the center console out I did this too.

I did the all on dome light mod before I knew someone had already did a write up on the mod. I went though the trouble of simulating the circuit in a circuit simulator to make sure everything worked the way I thought it would.

I soldered all the connections instead of using crimp connectors.

I need to do the mod where it turns the map lights on with the dome lights...

This is one mod I still need to do. Seems pretty easy

I have all my dash lights in blue LEDs, along with the door switches and the overhead AC controls and the Homelink buttons. I recently had my overhead console removed because I was replacing my old aftermarket flip down TV monitor with a newer one, and I took the opportunity to FINALLY modify the map lights so that they turn on along with the dome lights when a door is opened.
I really should have done a write up on this, but it's pretty easy. I just wired up a relay to the two dome lights. The relay feeds power and ground off the harness that plugs into the Homelink module in the console, and then I simply had to run a "trigger" wire along the ceiling to the dome light. So when the dome light is on, it triggers that relay to turn on and power up the map lights. I also put a diode on each map light wire so that they can still function like normal with the map light switch and not have any backfeed to the other map light when you turn only one of them on.

Added rear cargo lights because manufactures don't believe in them:think:

Another one of my top favorite mods. Not only is it bright and very useful as you can imagine but also safer for loading and unloading for me and other passerby drivers when in a dark lit area. Or even scare criminals away (personally I just use my muscles for that last part:893MrT-thumb:)

Great for camping and being outdoors, low power consumption can leave these on all night without killing the battery. Tied into the rear dome light for auto on with doors or dome switch. Of course all domes and maps are leds too.
