I've seen a lot of GMT900 mirrors for sale on eBay with motors that fail and stop moving in certain directions. Seems to be a common issue.
Side Mirror Motor
It is the mirror motor. about 60.00 for the motor if you do it yourself. I change my driver's side two years ago. The motor assembly has two 12 volt motors the drive a worm gear assembly with position sensors. These motors look like something out of a model car. Forget trying to fix it, just get a whole new motor assembly.
