Does anyone else have this problem? When I am driving around 60-65 mph around 1800-2000 RPM, I get a slight shutter in my truck. I first thought it was the active fuel management, but after watching the current mpg it does not seem to be the case. It is definitely power train related, because if I step on the gas more the shutter stops, even if I just tap it a bit. It is pretty consistent and very annoying. Does anyone else have this issue and if so, what can be done about it?

Have the U joints checked on the drive shaft. That'll happen when U joints are worn.

If that doesn't help, it may be an accumulator piston in the transmission.

I don't know if it's the same for our trucks, but I experienced that same problem with my old mark viii.

I've gotten the same shudder lately, but I'm getting it around 35 mph. To me, it feels like the drive shaft has fore and aft slop in it, and that it's shifting back and forth (don't know if that's what's happening, but that's what it feels like). I'm getting it looked at locally. I'm really hoping it's a u-joint issue and not something in the tranny (though I'm not ruling out the tranny).

I'll let you know what I find.

If it was a U-joint issue, would it only happen at certain speeds or all the time? You would think the faster you go the worse it would get.

Not necessarily. Your symptoms are very indicative of a bad u joint.

Is there anything I can do to diagnose it myself?

Not sure about your model truck but you may have to drop the driveshaft to inspect the u joints.

You might even be able to see them with a flashlight if you get under your rig.

Ok, so not the U joints. They took the whole driveshaft out and checked it. They say it is either the torque converter or transfer case, both I am told are covered by the powertrian warranty. Taking it in on Wednesday.

So ended up being the Torque Converter. Luckily it was covered under the powertrain warranty, plus they gave me a 2011 Tahoe as a loaner. Pretty nice.
