I'm doing the twin tip resonator delete right now and I cut the resonator off where they say to and now I'm trying to put the replacement piece in but the opening on my stock exhaust and the replacement piece are the same size? They only sit flush with each other it does not slide over the pipe?

It should have come w/ a st-st band clamp which allows you to butt the two together and tighten the two bolts. The instructions are pretty clear on that.

Do you have the 6.2?
Because the pipe is supposed to slide over the 5.3 exhaust and then clamp down on it.

Yes I had the clamps but the pipes are not supposed to just butt together, it is supposed to slide over the pipe and then be clamped like blazed said. No not the 6.2 I wish though, apparently previous owner had to replace the pipe coming from the muffler back, assuming bent the pipe somehow. So for some reason they choose that size pipe, it's on for now just don't like the angle

I checked mine today and it does slip over the tail pipe. But you can get a st-st clamp that's got two bolts and use it on a butt joint. Cost about $7.00.
