When I turn on the A/C, I hear the compressor click on but no air flow through the front vents. In the past, I would start driving and within a few minutes the blower would start blowing. Through trial and error, I am now able to get the blower to kick in by smacking the dashboard just above the center vents. Nine of out ten times, it works perfectly. Clearly there is an issue somewhere. Should I be looking for a loose electrical connection or replacing the blower motor?

I would unplug the motor first and put a test light on the plug and see if it gets power when you hit the button. If not then hit the dash and see if it gets power. That will diagnose if it's a loose connection. If it's not a loose connection pull the motor and bench test it to a jumper pack and see if you can see what's holding it back initially.
