We're talking maybe a 16th of an inch to an eighth over a couple hundred miles out of the expansion tank. Coupled with this, I see that there is wet coolant around the expansion tank cap.

Now, just to eliminate spillage, about a week ago I dried that area thoroughly (as in spotlessly clean). Now there is some wet coolant there again.

It's not boiling over or anything -- the coolant level in the expansion tank goes up by a normal amount (to the hot mark) when the truck is at operating temp and back down when it's cold. So my question is, how is the coolant getting there -- evaporation and condensation, or what? and is this normal? I don't remember it happening when I first got it, but there was evidence of spillage, so I guess it could have been doing it.

unknown at this time.
perhaps mixture is leaning toward to much water in the mix and it might be evaporation. By any chance when engine is hot and running you see bubbling going on in there?

Well we recently replaced the water pump (was leaking from the weep hole), and when we refilled we put in 50/50 distilled water and Dexcool. I don't know if this vehicle retains any coolant in it when the water pump is removed, but I know what we put in was mixed correctly.

I'll have to look and see if there's any bubbling. I've certainly never heard any.
