I had a few minutes to spare last night, so I decided to try solvent welding a cracked interior trim panel. This is the one that the rear door lock/unlock fits into, just so you know what type of plastic I'm talking about.

Does anyone know what solvent dissolves this plastic? I tried acetone, and amazingly, it didn't seem to touch it. I tried toluene next, and it did seem to dissolve the surface a little, but it does not seem enough to accomplish a solvent weld.

you might try liquid glue for plastic models? Testors, a clear glue that melts plastic. Comes with a brush in the cap. Michael's has it.

Found better solution. I found a GMC Yukon being parted out. The colour is slightly different, but it would look better than any repair I would do, and it's stronger. I'm still curious, if anyone finds a solvent that will dissolve this plastic, please reply.
