Recently purchased Tahoe was missing spare tire and assembly. I was so overwhelmed by car and so used to sedan/coupe setup with tire in trunk, I didnt notice even though I checked underneath. From my research, this could be a blessing as many have issues with rusty hoists making tire release difficult. Tried to find an assembly and see prices on autozone for like 120. Suggestions on where to get one? Scared to do the junkyard route and grab a rusty one but based off experiences, would be open especially since I'm missing the assembly and bolts. Trying to find how to install.

The hoist itself is held in by a single 15mm bolt, super easy to install. just line up the guide tube to the slot in the bumper and youre good to go. Ive used some aftermarket hoists before, I think Dorman, and theyve turned out to be pretty decent over the years (without freezing like the factory ones do).

Thats great to know. What pricing would I be looking at for this hoist? I'll be calling nearby parts stores but if you had a recommendation on where to get one at best price, would be great. Thats a lot of weight (tire & assembly) to be held by 1 15 mm bolt lol.

So 2 step process. install hoist plate to base of trunk underneath and some arm goes to trunk which is turned through a hole in bumper to tighten or loosen hoist holding tire. Sounds straight forward.
