Look on ebay. I've seen new OEM units going for around $20 last time I came across them.

Make it a practice to once a year or however often you check your spare tire pressure to lower the tire and check the condition of the parts. I check my spare and assembly usually twice a year.

at discount tire, we check the spare pretty much every time we work on a vehicle. although for the chevy's if the valve is down we'll just air it up under the vehicle. we don't have too many problems with rusting cables here in central texas though.

$20 is a great price. I called the stealership and they wanted 225 for the complete setup with the hanger and plastic pipe

I had mine hanging down just so slightly, being lazy not to wind it full back tight, cause my tools seemed to strip on it.. but after riding 3 months like that, the thing spun so many circles, that the metal wire, broke 1 strand at a time, and 1 day I was about to do some work under the truck, and noticed, nothing was there but the broke off cable.
