So I'm planning a long trip and just out curiosity I wanted to check the spare tire and its a requirement for trips. I'm still kind of new with my Tahoe.

Well my question is How to properly lower the spare tire???
I Know how to, like i know how to lower the cable but I did some research as it a has a 2nd Latch for "security" I guess.

Like the cable lowers all the way down and all but the tire still hangs from all the way at the top. Now I did some google and found dirty ways to get it down but as if it was brand new out of the factory how do you supposed to disable that 2nd latch???

Here are some vids of the "dirty way" to disable the latch.

You will have to fight with the spare tire to get it off the secondary latch. It really sucks but it is doable. The best thing to do and what I tell everyone to do with these body styles is to get the spare tire off any way you can. And then flip the spare tire over and tighten the cable back up. Now since the wheel is going the opposite way the secondary latch cant engage.

I dont think you would ever run into a problem where you actually would need the secondary latch and now the tire can go up and down a million times trouble free.
