First off, this is my first post on this site. I have been a life time Chevy owner, all Extended cab 4x4's and Trailblazeers for my wife. This is the first Tahoe I've owned, I bought it while in Dallas, TX for a winter vehicle here in Ohio.
I love the room and the way it handles, I bought it with 146k on the OD expecting to put a new transmission in. It now has 156k, I had an upgraded tranny installed a couple of weeks ago when I lost Rev, 2nd and 4th gear.
I started driving it again and noticed a "miss" after leaving it at the airport for a business trip (I had topped off the fuel tank before I left). When I returned home I noticed it running rough on start up at idle and it stumbled under acceleration. It runs fine once it is warmed up but had a miss while sitting at idle. I thought it might have been bad gas.
Yesterday I stopped by the parts store and had them hook up the code reader. It was showing a miss on # 6 cyl. I bought all new plugs and wires and two cans of Seafoam (after reading here). I ran the Seafoam through the PCV last night and other than some grey smoke it didn't seem to do much.
I started changing out the plugs today. For some reason number 6 cyl was hard to remove (rust) where the others came out easy. Also, it had a different plug in that cyl., AC Delco 41-993 / 12607234 instead of the Ac Delco 41-993 / 19256067.
Could this be the problem? Is this a hotter or cooler plug? If there was a problem in the past, why would this plug have helped?
This vehicle has run great up until the transmission problem and I bought it at a fair enough price and great condition. I am not afraid to put some money into it, I just want it reliable.
I came in to check on what torque setting to use on the plugs and thought I'd post the question. I am heading back out to finish changing the plugs and wires, I hope this resolves the issue. I will update this thread with the initial results.
Thanks in advance for any input,
