Has anyone considered installing the spohn rear suspension with del-sphere pivot joints? Are there any actual benefits in suspension travel or are we limited by shock travel? Do you think these pivot joints would provide a harsh ride on the street? Let me know your thoughts.

I'm trying to figure out why people think the 100 series Land Cruiser is such a decent offroad vehicle and the Tahoe is not. They have similar suspension configurations, but the LC seems to have more rear articulation.

It's basically a rear lift kit. You might get some more flex and travel out the rear with the joints. The rear is a 4 link design so it won't side travel too much but those joints will help articulate a little more. What's your purpose of the Tahoe?

I was thinking of building an expedition type vehicle and the full size Land Cruiser is a benchmark for this worldwide. I already own a 2003 Tahoe and don't really want to buy a different vehicle for this. From the videos I watched, it appears the Tahoe is limited on suspension travel on the front and rear. I was hoping the Spohn trailing arms would help keep the rear end on the ground, but I have no idea what are the limiting factors.

The kit looks nice, but sort of pricey. The adjustable arms would help you dial in your pinion angle after a lift. The adjustable track bar would also help re-center the axle after a lift.
I would use this kit if I had at least 4" of lift.

That kit will help a little on enhancing the suspension but ultimately it's the design. Certain cars just have better suspension no matter what is added. I wouldn't dump that money into a 03 hoe trying to compete with the travel of a land cruiser

^What he said.

My 2003 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon had 9" travel rear shocks and 10" travel front shocks, along with +3" springs and Currie Johnny Joint arms, plus a few other pieces. It had travel and flex.
Can you do it on a Tahoe, sure. However, I'd use a 4DR Wrangler Rubicon for the base platform of an expedition-type vehicle.

necromance: what everyone calls the "red arms" on fleabay are exact clones of spohn...

im strongly considering making stickers that say clone in the spohn font and putting on them as a joke lol...

but they don't have the top tier with the spherical joints just the lower tier bushing ones. but theyre adjustable arms with greasable poly bushings for not a lot more than new oem replacements and they give you squat/antisquat/pinion correction plus pumpkin centering like you said.

i bought them to go with some h2 springs because I bent a lower, the oem are a joke, and I want to add a little squat to the geometry after the 2" lift so itll pick the nose up a bit when I goose it...

if anyone has run this rear stuff Im curious about the setup after installation.

alignment shops will take your expensive adjustable parts that give you the option for a more agressive setup and... set it to stock because they are simply the hands doing the bidding of a laptop.

if we wanted it to handle stock, we'd leave it stock. but a 18yo mexican kid actually doesn't know shit about alignments and chassis setup, he knows what the training video told him about how to obey the laptop...
