I have a 2010 Yukon Denali XL... Does anyone else have a squeak when turning the wheel at low speeds?

I looked underneath and the rack is sliding through the right bushing as shown in the following tsb:

Does anyone think replacing that would solve the problem? The dealer says its in the steering gear and wants $2500 LOL!

If you get under the vehicle on the front and have someone move the steering wheel, you'd see the steering cylinder move if it's bad. Easy way to check at least.

I've had a little squeak when my steering boot went bad and got dirt inside. Only squeaked at low speeds too.

Yes, mine moves, do you think that's it?

Which steering boot?

can you hear the squeak inside the truck or do you have to have windows down or what?

I had a similar issue. Thought it was just rubber rubbing on something in the steering wheel. Turned out to be the steering gear. Luckily my truck was certified pre-owned and covered under warranty. I was actually shocked it was the gear. Mine is a 2011.

Check your fluid level.

I've found in mine the previous owner let the reservoir run very low and made the steering pump squeal. I've gotten rid of most the sounds with the Lucas power steering stop leak fluid, meant for leaks or to quiet noises, just follow the instructions and syphon out as much fluid as possible if you do.

If it moves in the bushings then you'll need a new rack to cure it.

If you think that's where the squeak is coming from, try some WD40 on it and if the squeak goes away then that's it. If the bushings are bad then the truck probably doesn't feel that good steering wise.

I replaced my rack on my 07 at 75K miles, the rack itself was shot but there was a little play on the right side bushing.
