So took Gold-digger in for an alignment now that I have the lift/shocks/spacers all on there. The place I took it to, I've done a ton of business through, and I have a high level of trust and faith with them.

Turns out that he couldn't do my alignment, because my steering box, pitman arm and idler are are all outside of spec. Ironic how a "mere" 4 degrees of play could be soooo dramatic. lol.
Anyway, they wanted almost 2K to do it. I know I can replace the parts myself and just go back to have them do the alignment.....

So I did a search here, and came back with 3 pages of hits. All of which dealt with a leaking box. I sifted through a bunch of them hoping that maybe one might lead to what I am looking for, but they didn't and I got tired of reading the repeat...to be honest.

So! My question is...I see some aftermarket replacements for about double what a refurb unit from Autozone would cost. I know with the bigger tires, it's harder on the steering. So I want to do the heavy duty unit. But was wondering if anyone has done a conversion from like the duramax, or other 2500 series chassis? I did a google search, and found nothing. Maybe they are the same..?

Blue top or redhead may make a replacement. The diesel and offroad guys like them.

I replaced the steering gear in mine with an AC Delco professional remanufactured from Amazon very cheap. It made a big difference . It's been a year since I installed that steering gear, and it is still bone dry and nice and tight while you're there replace the lower steering shaft with an AC Delco version not the cheap dorman. On my old lifted jeep WJ I used a red head steering gear and that thing was tighter than a...[insert joke] lol. If they have the cash go with red head, because they're triple the price of the AC Delco professional reman gear.
