can you take a wheel from say an 05 with radio controls and make it work in an 01?
To make things easier say it has an aftermarket radio that will work off stock controls.

Curious if it's something not to difficult to be done

I think it will bolt up fine, but the wiring for the controls won't be there and even if you swapped the entire column I don't think it would work. The only option I se for you would be like a Denali or Escalade 99-02 wheel with steering wheel controls. It would still be some work, but that is probably the only wheel that will work for you.

is there a harness that runs through the column to the wheel for this? How does it not tangle up when turning lock to lock?
If its wires through the center then it should be easy to wire the wheel up.

The same way the airbag wiring does. You would have to get a new clock spring that has the wires for steering wheel controls in it.

so a late 03+ wheel can be used?
The airbag will plug/play?
the clock spring will take car of the stereo controls?

I'm not too familiar... what are all the buttons on the wheel?

I wonder if a nnbs steering wheel could work too
