steering wheel swapout?

looking to change out my steering wheel, the leather is worn out and torn on the top of the wheel, and since i need to replace it i figure why not put something different??? Only things worrying me is the airbag light, since the wheel i want isnt factory, and two, i heard that if you take an airbag out of a vehicle that is originally equipped, it cannot be inspected....??? idk where i heard that but it makes sense, but then again....

depends on state laws as far as inspection, I have a billet steering wheel and the airbag light was on when I got the truck. I just took the bulb out when I changed to led bulbs.
