Anyone who is stock mind giving me their rear fender well measurement? My Tahoe did a lot of towing before I purchased it and it sits level stock. I'm thinking my rear springs are pretty worn as it's fairly bouncy in the back.

With 265 70 16's I measure 35 7/8" in front and 36" in back. It's an LS model.

Could be worn out shocks also or maybe both.

Shocks have 5k on them.

I guess my concern is that if I replace the factory springs, I don't want the rear sitting 2" higher than the front. Even though it's lower than I like, it's level right now.

the rear is a little low. it should be between 36 3/4 to 37". Do you have the self level shocks? The big 3" diameter shocks? If your truck originally had those, and they have been replaced with conventional, or are worn, that will make it sag.

I don't think my stock shocks were self leveling, I'm assuming you are referring to the air ride suspension?

These are my front shocks, but they are just normal shocks.

It sounds like the rear springs are definitely sagging.

No, they are bigger then the air ride shocks. These are like 600.00 a pop from GM. Also known as nivomatts. They self level via a hydraulic vlave inside the shock. They are about 3" in diameter. These are beefy and are part of the rear suspension that keep the truck at correct ride height. If these are replaced with a normal shock, you must put stiffer springs, or the rear will sag. Look for the G65 option on your RPO code tag in the glove box.

Think he means these shocks. You can see them next to the fronts. I thought it was part of the ZW7 RPO but I have the G65 as well. I replaced springs and went with 5100's.

Well that explains it. I do have the G65 code. I'm assuming most people go with a standard shock and new springs due to the cost?

I was looking at going with the Z71 springs, something a little beefier for light towing.

Does anyone know if the Z71's used a longer factory shock than the LS models?

Edit: I ordered the springs, MOOG 81069 for the Z71's. Someone also posted in the reviews that these are what you should run on the Tahoe's with the Towing Package. I'll put them in this weekend.
