I have an 03 Tahoe and I was wondering what the stock speaker sizes were. Non Bose , just the standard setup. I know there's tweeters in the front doors, not sure about the back doors tho. Thx for any help.

Speakers are 6 1/2...front and rear doors. Some Sites list 6 3/4 also. Both should fit as most 6 3/4 come with adaptors to fit 6 1/2 openings. Not sure on tweeter size.

That I dont know. One of the audio gurus would have to chime in. But from what I do know, I'd recommend staying with a round speaker; it's supposed to give a truer sound.

Some have 5.25 in rear, some have 6.5. Don't waste money and effort on a 6x9. Round speakers sound better. 6x9 are overpriced paper weights in my opinion.

I'm looking to replace my whole audio system with some nice aftermarket head unit and speakers. Could some of you guys chime in on what you're working with.
Thanks

I would rec. some infinity components in the front and rear doors, and a nice 4 channel amp to power them. ( you could probably get away with not doing them n the rear doors. I'd rather have a kick ass set in the doors and stockers or 2ways in the back thank cheap comps all the way around personally )

Stick with Kenwood or Alpine for your head unit ( pioneer has some decent decks too ) After that, pick your sub(s) and amp based on what kind of music you listen to, if you like rock and country maybe some Infinities in a sealed box ( atleast 2 10's to fill your truck ) Or if you're into rap, some nice Sundown Audio SA series speakers in a ported box. When it comes to the subs its really about how much cargo area you are willing to give up....

You're also going to need some power wire, stick with a good brand, Knuconcepts has some great cheap wire, KCA 4 gauge will be fine for a mild build, unless you're going to go all out for subs, then you will need 0 gauge power lead into a distro, then probably 4 to the 4channel and 0 to sub amp.

I would also suggest a big three upgrade, its just a few wires to add to your stock charging system, google it, tons of info out there.

You will also need a power distribution block, speaker wire ( knukoncepts again ) wire terminals, tape, butt connectors, ect ect ext

Then comes the dash harness, I would ask around online for the best harness for your truck, depends on if you have bose, rear entertainment, ect ect ect, but if you do have bose, you will have to run new speaker wire to the doors, keep that in mind, and please do not hack up your stock wiring, just ad new stuff for what you want, and leave the stock stuff alone. Short of taping into a switched 12 volt source, don't touch stock wiring, its not worth it.

As far as what I am working with, not much... Only had the truck five days or so, and I've just installed my Kenwood 419 and 2 Sundown SA-15's in the hatch. Building a custom box on sunday to take advantage of every square inch or real estate in the cargo area, and then going to be adding in a 4 channel and 2 sets of the infinities. After that I will work on hooking up the head rest monitors and getting a gaming system of some sort installed.

Edit....

Realized I hadnt mentioned amps at all....

If youre on a budget I recommend Hifonics. Just make sure they are under warranty. .. Great little amps for the money. If you are going big in the sub department, crescendo or sundown...
