You do know you’re supposed to start at the LF to relearn them? How do you proceed to the others if that one doesn’t cause the horn to honk? You need to start there so the system knows which one is which. LF, RF, RR and finally LR is the correct procedure.

Sorry I mistyped. The RF is the bad sensor. All the others in proper sequence will cause the horn to honk. I’ll order a new sensor I suppose and try again.

What I would like to know is... will the computer accept the same sensor identification code for all four tires?

For instance, say you have one sensor in your hand, and in the other the relearn tool....

you start the relearn procedure
Push button on relearn tool aimed at sensor
Horn chirps for confirmation
For the next tire, you use the same sensor
Push button on relearn tool aimed at same sensor..
and repeat for all until done.

This would give us scofflaws a way to use one sensor mounted in the spare tire to communicate with the computer. Or use just one sensor in a pvc pipe saving space and money!

Someone could even try this without a tool and just let the air out of one tire each time the horn chirped....I dont have a compressor at home or I would confirm if this works..

No. You need 4 sensors. They’re all identified separately by serial #. The PVC pipe trick has been used by people who either can’t use sensors in their tires or don’t want them in their tires. I tried it with new ACDelco sensors but read that they have to be “woke up” when first put into service by spinning them in a tire at something like 10 mph. I never got them to work until I had them installed in my new rims and the tire shop activated them. My cheap tpms tool didn’t wake them up either.

I currently have a handful of tpms on my desk because Im dissecting them.....Im in deep learning about these little buggers...https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/antennas-sticking-outa-my-tires.112927/

turns out some have motion sensors built on them that very easy to defeat. Some others not so much, they have moved to a G sensor. Besides, disabling the motion part of the sensor would just keep it on all the time killing the batteries.
