Hello I have a 95 Tahoe and im gonna be hooking up subs/amp today, im gonna follow the old wiring thats there but in the engine compartment is hooked up towards the back of the fuse box on some bolt kinda connection? is that the right way to do it? cause was reading up online u gotta hook it up to ur battery and thats kinda how I have seen them installed on other trucks.....thanks for the help

btw any other tips? it looks pretty straight forward my buddy that has hooked up subs in the past is gonna help too.

go straight from the battery, going from the fuse box can blow ur amp and cause even worse diming issues. i blew my amp like that too much voltage drop from the little wire that goes from the battery to the fuse panel!
run ur RCAs and power wires for the amp on different side of the truck or feedback noise can occur

thanks for the info guys, if ur looking at ur fuse panel in the engine compartment you got the two acc bolts on top to hook up whatever, is it ok to have the wires for ur trailer lights hooked up there? (not that ive ever used it, was how it came) noticed that when I took the old sub wiring out.

I noticed mine had a trailer brake installed at one time and they pulled power from there too ... weird.

That is actually one of there intended uses. You might even have the wiring in place running to the hitch area. Look at picture below.

thanks for the info, ya I have the wiring out back for the hitch just didn't know if it was ok to have it wired there, thats how it was when I got it, thanks again

Wait one. All right acces to my web server is down right now so no picture but there should be a red wiring for stud B that runs to the hitch that provided battery power at all times besides the marker/stop/turn/reverse/auxilary(blue) leads.

Im going to run it from the fuse box and if it gives me any lip and swap it to the battery.
