Subs in jack compartment

Hello im new here, I tried to search this but it keeps kicking me out, guess cuz of my sucky phone, anyway, I have a 98 Tahoe, and im wanting to use the jack storage location in the rear quarter panel to mount one or two Punch P3 ten inch subs, I dont really want to use a cookie cutter sub box for this since I use my Tahoe for work and I need all the space in the cargo area I can, I can only use the drivers side since I have a rear ac unit on the passenger side ive been toying with the idea of fiberglassing it but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to do it because it would be pretty difficult because I still want to use most if not all the factory panels, that and a good spot to mount the amp where I dont have to actually show off the amp, or if there is an aftermarket enclosure for the subs...

Ok, I hav my compressor and air tank where the jack and rear A/c use to be. I cut that all that shit out, who cares about your passengers? Plus when you have a leak it is easier to find.

Get a nice whiz wheel and die grinder. I would just make and how you are going to cut the trim panels for the subs be re-enforce it with wood so the plastic doesn't seep in and crack. Cover up any hideous lines with fiberglass or bondo and kinda smooth it out. In the end I would just have it recarpeted to match the rest.

I have been considering this area too for a sub. My current box is just to big and cumbersome to move around. Honestly I don't thing you will have the space for 2 10's. The punch series I think require at lease 1cuFt per sub. Sneaking 2 in there could be a real trick. I would think that maybe a single 12 would fit better, something designed for a small sealed enclosure. The Sundown subs come to mind...

BUT hey, if you have the idea, Go For It! and post pics of the build.

I think the best place to put a sub and keep it stealthy would be to make a box that fits under the rear seats
To me it would be way much cleaner and im sure it would sound louder due to it being closer

I know you say you have p3s but im sure if you sell them you can get somthing better to fit your needs
For example a sundown sa-8 its an 8" sub but dont let the size fool you, they get down

If you want i can post a link where a kid put 2 of them under his seat, but his truck is an obs ext cab not a tahoe but im sure you can still fit 1 or maybe the second one

I wasn't going to get a sub setup for this reason, I still use my cargo area. Plus, I didn't want it to get broken into. Then I found a Pioneer 8" shallow mount on CL, and decided to build this box. It fits under the passenger seat. I don't have a ton of bass, but it really adds a lot. It also vibrates that seat like crazy, which isn't the best, but it's not terrible. Here's pics:








The reason that one side has to be angled is because of the spring on the bottom of the seat to adjust the seat's position, like this: (pic is from behind the seat)

That guys build thread makes me want to get out an work on my Hoe...he is progressing well.
