I just built a masterpiece that fits in the back of the Yukon XL Denali on the Driver side where it looks like it would have a speaker because it looked like a grill. Now I would love to get your opinions on what 8" subwoofer is the best and the best Mono amp to push that 8" to the max. The reason Im asking is because I only have dealy with 15" and 12" , no 10"s or 8's so I need you help. Take Care Guys and Girls.

okay you confused me are you wanting to install an 8 inch sub and mono amp
or are you going with 12s or 15s

Its the only size of subwoofer that will fit in the back compartment to where I can make it look stock. I have done the 2 15" subs that makes the quarter do triple flips on the trunk of my 85 Cutlass and on the outside you hear the license plate buzz and the trunk bouncing. The same will the 12" in my Custom 97 S-10 Blazer. Now I have children and a 2004 Yukon XL Denali with a 21 inch TV in the back and to get the full aspect you need bass just like I have in the front with my two alpine screens with I can watch while driving and the 8" sub mounted up front. I have been through the child age where you open up the back and all you see is speaker boxes, amps, and caps. Im not 14 years old anymore Im trying to get good sound for movies for my Yukon Xl Denali. and for my kids.

So yet again I will ask what is the specs on the box, that will determine which sub, then when you pick the sub you can match a amp to it...

what cubic feet did you build the box to? Is it sealed or ported? what is the mounting depth available for the woofer?

The measurement's are not just straight angles it has piece's shaved off and it took a lot of the grinder to shave wood off to So I could draw you one in paint and measurement's to each side

Just take a plastic trash bag, stick it inside the and cut out, and fill it with water or sand. When full pour it out into something you can measure like milk gallon jugs and that will give you the volume. Also we need the mounting depth so we know how deep the sub can be. This is all to determine the best possible sub for your specific enclosure. Which is the best way to do it.

You can just buy some 8" random sub if you want, but if you want the best that will fit, then we need the extra info.

When I was doing my fiberglass one it was 1.1 cu.ft after sub displacement and fit a 7" deep 10.. but it all depends on the box you actually built. If you can give me a front and back picture, with a few measurements I can give a close volume of the box.

Here is a pic

I built it so it will clamp into the Molding clips and the molding clamps tight over that. I put a ROCKFORD FOSGATE P3SD2-8 PUNCH 8" SHALLOW SUBWOOFER. It takes 2.5 inches deep to mount and I put a 250watt Rockford amp on it. It is nothing spectacular but you can sure tell when we are watching a movie in the back on my 21" over head TV screen you can feel the bass but its not overwhelming. the dimensions you can get from a 2000 suburban that has the same set up as I do. I took their dimensions and molded it around them.

This is just the Box I got the measurments off and I built a stronger and a little bit larger box that barely gets the original milding over and I cut holes in the molding speaker molding from the Yukon and I might just cit out an 8" hole and put a grille over the top of the speaker.
The Sub in it right now is a Bose Sub and I changed it out to the shallow Rockford 8" sub and a Rockford class A 250X1 Amp to match the 250 watt the speaker can handle. I Plan to in stall 6x9 in the back also.

Very funny the people who are ignorant to the fact that people can do what they cant. I told you I was building one and I wasn't lying. Ill get you the specs when I get it all fit and within spec for hiding the shallow Rockford speaker mount with the amp installed somewhere Im not sure yet but I just showed a mimic box of what Im going to be using to build mine.
