So I asked a few days ago about keeping my drl's on at night. Or basically all the time. I recieved some great help. But think I made it even easier. On my 2000 Yukon XL, all I had to do was ground the #85 pin on the drl relay. I inserted a piece of stripped wire in the relay socket and sent it to ground through a fuse of course just to make sure. And them lights are on even with it dark out. Pretty easy. Now is this going to be a problem? A bunch of you have way more experience with these rigs then I do. Give it up...

That would make sense. I wouldn't have even gone that far, I'd have just removed the relay and put a jumper in place of the NO contacts.

Why would you want the DRL's on all the time? They don't actually put out enough light to notice IMO.

I like the look, thats all. Besides they stay on when the vehicle is still in park.

I might try that. I don't need them at night particularly, but it's always bugged me that they turn off when it's in Park. No idea why this bothers me, but it does. And this would be a free fix.

Thanks for posting it!

I ran a 4202 Diode from low beam fuse to DRL's to keep mine on at night. Just like the look

Cool little mod! Always bothered me too when they turn off in park, good idea bro. I personally dont have mine on ever, pulled fuse. For some reason the bulbs seemed too run hot n almost burn housing? Couple buddies with gm trucks have same problem. Idk? That wuld be my only concern, but may not be an issue with others. Great info,n idea

Glad I could contibute somehow. Remember this is for the 2000 model only. It has a single relay for the hi and lo beams and then a relay for the the DRL's. The newer rigs have a seperate relays for the hi and lo beams. I beleive that is where running a diode from the lo beam relay to the DRL relay would work best. As Sweet_N_Low is stating.

Nicowagner, what are you wanting to know? On my 2000 I have only one rely for the head lights. Unlike the newer models which have two. And one relay for the DRL's. Pull the relay and on the bottom it, it will indicate what the pin numbers are. Locate the 85 pin and run a wire to ground. Try that first with a fuse to make sure that all is well. Pretty easy.
