Been lurking on here for a while and absorbing the knowledge.
I have an 01 Hoe that is getting tired. Still runs good and gets driven to work every day, but pushin 220K.
I'm probably a bit older than most of you guys? So my tastes run a bit differenter.
I was thinking of a sleeper, something that looks pretty boring, stock and slow, but when you stand on the Go Pedal the fun starts.
I don't want to stand out at all really. I don't want any attention. I want quiet exhaust. Monotone paint. Factory looking wheels etc.
Was thinking a a stock ish 6.0 to start with and make some unassuming mods that keep me under the radar

Any suggestions or Ideas?

Forced induction!!!!

In other words a super charger! Also swap the transmission out for the 4L80. And build it! That way you stay quiet and go fast I would have the bottom of the block built. You will deffently be a sleeper then.

I would also upgrade to the NNBS brakes with R1 slotted rotors and SS braided brake lines , I would also upgrade the rear sway bar. And maybe re-gear depending on what rear gears you have and add an Eaton or Alburn POSI!
All of the things I listed are kinda pricy but good solid mods to make a SLEEPER!

So if I were to go shopping for a donor 6.0 what are the ones to look for ?
what are the better performance engine vin codes or specific vehicles?
I like superchargers and turbos, but I would prefer au'nauteural.
Remember the theme is un-assuming no flash no bling ...
I even want it to look stock when the hood is opened.
How much of the go fast goodies from cars like the GTO would work for me ?

A lot it won't be quiet then though that's what I am telling you the LQ9 is the Hi out put 6.0L and the LQ4 is the other that being said there is only 10HP difference between the two. If you want a sleep go with a blower! Not N/A I would also figure out what gears you have if 3.42's change them out to either 3.73's or 4.10's. That will change where your power band is and give you more low end to mid range. These are big heavy rigs dropping a stock 6.0 or one with a CAI and or exhaust will not make you FAST by any means it will make it faster!

A cam will be noticeable. Intake and throttle body you can do.
Your best bet for a vehicle that is daily driven is to go F/I.

My 2001 Tahoe is N/A and will whoop Camaro SS , Lightings , Ponys lol , and TBSS's all day long but I could sneak up on someone at a Rock concert and it's not meant to be a DD either!

Also the weak link on these rigs is the transmission being either a 4L60 or 4L65 never meant for performance with the weight of our SUVs. They do fine in say a reg cab 1500. Lol. I have a feeling that you might not understand what I am trying to say.

^^^exactly right...but if you do want to stay N/A then id say drop a 6.0 on there with a tbss intake manifold, 4.10 gears and a stall to really get up and go alot quicker..get a cam but put a quiet muffler on there..if it wasnt to be a sleeper id say LT headers and ORY or maybe even a 150 shot of nitrous

I understand exactly Hoe. Back in the day I was a motorhead. my car in HS was a 76 Camaro with a L86 Vette engine. It had some mods and was fast back then. I was running in the 13's with it, and that is plenty fast. Buut it also got everyone's attention. (the wrong kind)
I think Joesueh is getting it. Sneaky fast.... Nitrous is a thought :D
I would be plenty happy with 500 Hp. I think that is pretty realistic with the right parts. ( I want it to be real dependable too)
I agree with the L80E tx.
The best part there is no real budget I have to stick to, but i'm thinking I can do what I want for around 8K or less?

Oh I found this article
They made 480 hp on a truck engine with a cam and headers

Electric cut outs may solve the loud exhaust problem?

If 8k if your budget, then go forced induction.
