ok, so the website below has the ht383e vortec engine, which is a exact replacement for my 99 5.7l tahoe.... i was curious if the motor would hold up to a supercharger....hahaha, thats right, im goin into high performance engines at my college, NADC, which the school will allow and help me install the engine...so i figured i'd go ahead and go all out with this build, i know my tahoe may be a 4 door z71 and has 3.42:1 gears... but thats gunna change also...any suggestions will be appreciated on what i should do....
thanx,

Motor should hold up to a supercharger to an extent 10-12 lbs the stock two bolt was ok up to 6-8lbs of boost. The 383 is a four bolt meant for HD use so it is "built up" somewhat. The next challenge is your fuel supply and drivetrain I would look into a 4l80e and a stouter rearend. I know bowtie freak has mentioned some items before. When it comes to trans and rear assemblies and what is best I am lost. I believe he has the 383. As for fuel look inot the marine intakes they use a true fuel injector system for high flow.

14 bolt semi floater rear end and either a really built 4L60e or the 4l80e swap.

with the super charger on the 383 you will run out of fuel, you must upgrade the system. I am just about maxed out on the stock system now and I have no super charger. Procomp is correct also a 14bsf or ff is a must for that kind of power. As for a trans the built 460 would do the job I think

Which supercharger were you thinking of going with? The larger cubic inch engine will require a larger s/c that can supply the 383 if you want a reasonable amount of boost.

Get with Frank over at Performa-built transmissions. I have owned some of thier products and they are first rate and hold big power. You can also check with Rossler or Centry transmissions out of Houston. They all make 700r4/4l60e/4l65 hold anywhere from 500rwhp to around 800rwhp. They arent cheap but they work.

I think Wester's is offering injectors. They are high but a lot less hassle than the marine swap, and still cheaper.
