Hello, I recently picked up a 2007 Chevy Tahoe , ltx .It has a aftermarket suspension setup, Fire bird industrial supply (coil, shocks, springs, knuckle). I was told a 1 inch drop, but i'm not sure. My issue is that winter is coming and i picked up 4 ,,17 inch gm steel rims and tires, but to my surprise the rims dont fit up front. It hits the lower ball joint by maybe 1/2 inch or less. Anyone one here using that setup or something similar ? Would a 18 Inch steel rim fit ?

It currently sit on 20 inch aftermarket mags. I don't want to mess them up during the canadian winters :(. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !

It probably has drop 2” spindles and a 17” wheel won’t work unless you grind the balljoint nut and stud a bit. 18” should be ok. Spacers won’t work, it’s the inside diameter of the rim that’s the issue and moving the wheel outboard won’t help. I have Belltech 2” drop spindles on my 02 and was running 26’s but the shop couldn’t set alignment with those wheels so I put my set of 17’s on but it took a lot of grinding. But since you already have the wheels, you can try. You’ll need a 4” angle grinder with some cutoff wheels and a grinder wheel. First, cut the stud off flush with the nut, then try the wheel. If it still hits switch over to the grinder wheel and you’ll probably need to remove another 1/16-1/8” of the nut itself. If you don’t feel comfortable with that, you’ll need 18’s.
