Yesterday on my way home from out of town my tranny in my 2007 Tahoe 4x2 made a weird down shift at wide open throttle. And now seems like I lost my 4th gear and maybe 1st or 2nd. From a stop it takes about 2500 rpms and to let off the gas for it to shift into the next gear and after that there is no shifting had to drive it home at about 24-2600 rpms at 60 mph. Not sure what’s going on, but if the tranny ends up needing to be replaced could I swap it out with a 2wd 4l60e and a 2wd drive shift and just remove the front driveshaft? Or is there more to it. Will all the wiring and plugs work with the 2wd tranny? Please help thanks

Maybe need 2wd crossmember as well. I'm planning on doing this to my Yukon Denali whenever the transmission goes.

I am interested in this subject as well. Could the front half shafts be taken apart and just the hub spindles installed to hold the front wheel bearings together?
