I just installed a 2012 cluster into my 2008 Escalade so I could have the instant MPG, voltage, and oil pressure menus, it's been sitting a while because I overestimated the mileage when I sent it to have the mileage adjusted. Anyway, everything appears to be working great except the oil life and the compass. I'm mainly concerned about the oil life. I held the check mark like to reset it and nothing happened. The Tech 2 still shows the same 73% it was showing on the old cluster. Any ideas?

Just to help someone else out down the road who may be interested in doing this: buy a 2009 cluster and you should be good to go for plug and play (at least as far as trying to add the additional DIC options into a 2008, I'm not sure if this would work on a 2007 because I haven't tried it). I reprogrammed the cluster with my 2008 VIN and it made it just like my 2008 cluster but the oil life reading came back so I knew the hardware wasn't the issue. I started pulling VIN's from eBay and using a 2009 VIN gave me all the information (instant MPG, oil pressure, battery voltage, outside temperature) and let the oil life work. 2010 and 2011 VIN's didn't work. As far as the compass goes, that will probably not work. 2009+ have a compass module located on top of the headliner that communicates to the cluster through the BCM. The three dashes in the cluster do bother me a little but not enough to do all the work to try and make it work when I have a compass in the rearview mirror.

Bringing this back from the dead... I just installed an Escalade cluster in my 2007 Yukon Denali. Everything works except the compass and oil life. Your last post was a little confusing, did you end up programming your new cluster with your truck VIN or an Escalade VIN? The cluster I purchased was a 2009 KPH unit. I have not been able to program mileage with my Tech2 through ACDelcoTDS, any time I try, I get a communication error. Maybe I need to do it with a 2009 Escalade VIN?

I programmed it with a 2009 VIN but that won’t do anything to the odometer. You can’t set the mileage in TIS unless it is a “new” cluster. I used one of the eBay services to get the mileage set before I installed it.
