i know it's been done. searching didn't bring up the answer that i was looking for. but how hard is it to swap out the AWD system to just a regular 4WD system. as i was reading someone just swapped out & made their truck into a 2WD. but i don't really need AWD. i would prefer to be able to switch when needed.

just wondering how hard it is to have it all done? what components are required to achieve this? is it going to cost me an arm & a leg? would i be better off just selling my truck & looking for a regular Tahoe/Yukon?

no other input on this?

I posted almost the exact same question a few weeks ago, with very little response. I wish it were as simple as a transfer case swap and plugging up the factory switch on the dash, but it doesn't seem to be. I'd really like to have a 4 low, which I don't think the AWD transfer case even has.

I also got no response on the extended range fuel tank issue, and I'd rather that than the 4 low.

if he went with a manual shifting TC he wouldn't need any reprogramming. it could be done with a simple cable and a knob under his seat. then he could just leave his full time front diff in or swap it out to part time diff and just engage it with a dash mounted switch. Not a big deal.
