Tahoe Air Ride Compressor Replacement

It appears the Air Ride Compessor on my 2013 Tahoe is in need of replacement. Replacement prices seem to vary quite abit. I would appreciate a recommendation on a replacement compressor that will last a few years and is a good value price-wise.

Either spend the money buy the OEM one that will likely last a other 10 years or take your chances on the aftermarket Arnott one that probably won’t last 10 years but it may last a few.

I purchased the dorman pump been working fine, dorman and arnott are about your only options besides oem. check rockauto/amazon/ebay and compare for your best price.

First off - Welcome to the forum from Iowa.

I have put Dorman and Arnott's in my vehicles and have had good luck. The last one I put in was an Arnott for my 2013 Yukon XL Denali. They run in the neighborhood of $160 +/- and take about 15-20 minutes to replace and is able to be done with out the use of jacks. If you do replace it, take some time to wash out any debris that may be under there otherwise you can get a face full of crap. Just ask @avalonandl.

We recommend that you put all your rig(s) info in your signature so we all don’t have to guess at year, make, model, engine size, trans, rear axle locker…….etc. While you may have posted pertinent info in your first post, you may forget to do it again and the info is needed by us anyway. Makes it way easier on all members that attempt to help, to have that info right up front. It is also recommended that you take a pic of your RPO codes, on the inside cover of the glove box, and post that image in your signature. All this info will greatly help those that will try to help with a problem.


If there is any other info, like upgrades, mods or recent mechanical/maintenance work done, that would be helpful in any post as well. Too many times a question is asked by the poster and after about 10 responses we find out that the poster has done recent work to attempt to fix the problem or work that was done that SEEMS not related to the problem.

I put a dorman air compressor in my 2006 in 2016 and it’s been completely fine ever since. And I use mine pretty heavily. A couple hundred pounds worth of detailing gear in the tailgate every day, towing a few times every couple months. Compressor has handled it all and kept the shocks filled.

I would be leery doing this unless you can get them for $25 or so. Chances of it being in good condition before getting sent to the grave yard are low and after sitting without being cycled seals dry out.

Buying used parts has been very hit or miss for me but its all about expectations, too. Some stuff has worked out great and others not so much but I'm also willing to "waste" some of my own time to save money when it's worth it. I bought a used steering column for $140 but it needs new bearings which is a royal PITA but a new column is $1000 so that's worth it to me.

Anyway, I haven't looked into what the compressors are going for used but if they're a good bit cheaper I'd give it a go because I'd rather have a used GM one than a new aftermarket or rebuilt one. They're so easy to replace so that helps also. Most of these junk yards stand behind what they sell. Just spend some time on eBay and find the newest lowest mileage one you can find.

Those pumps are only good for 5-6 years in a vehicle. So the real PITA is replacing them. They are about 285 from Rock Auto....Spend the $.
