Hey guys just curious if anyone has experienced faulty replacement water pumps on 96-99 tahoes, yukons, etc...? I ask b/c I have gone through 2 water pumps in roughly 3 years. 1st one was a GMB (N.America) High flow pump which gave out with roughly 30k miles on it. Leaked from the weep hole and front bearing.... So this time around I bought an OEM AC Delco, brand new. And now with roughly 4k miles on it, it's leaking from the back plate. The plate on the back which is sealed with a gasket and screwed in place. I have never had an issue like this before on something so new. Anyone else experience this?

I know the pump is good so I'm gonna get a gasket kit and see what happens. The leak is so slow it turns to jelly before it gets achance to drip.
I have electric fans on the truck that kick on at 195 degrees when the thermostat opens so I dont think its a pressure issue(not yet anyway). And the thermostat is a fail safe one too...

All thoughts welcome.

That seems like there might be something else going on. My original water pump crapped out over last summer and I had to replace it with an AC Delco one. My Tahoe had around 97k on the clock when the original one crapped out. I did not do the repair myself, and if memory serves me correctly, I believe I spent $225 to have the new one put in after I purchased the part.
