Hey guys so I just picked up this 97 Yukon with 124K miles. It seems to run fine accelerate smooth shifts nicely, and seems to be in good shape. How many miles have you guys put on your rides? I would like to get this thing to last to 200K miles... or more. What do ya think?

Definitely possible assuming it's maintained properly and taken care of. My dad had a 92 sierra that went 300k with very little issue before he sold it.

Congratulations on your purchase :D

As with all makes and models, things will break, or need to be replaced from time to time.

But as far as avoiding permanent engine failure? Definitely 300k miles +

GM made solid engines. Virtually bulletproof in my opinion.

I have a 350 from a 1977 Caprice in my Monte carlo now, with well over 200K on the engine. It still runs strong, no issues to report, and I don't foresee any coming either.

Change your oil. It's crucial. Your truck will love you for it :D

One of the greatest ways to keep your rig running!

Routine maintenance and changing fluids will do amazing things for your ride,.

300K. I like the sound of that. How well does the 4L60E tranny hold up?

My 96 chevy PU has 255,000 on the original 4L60E still driven daily by my 17yr old stepson.I am the 3 rd owner and I know the guy who bought it new.

Great news!! Another 100k of just regular maintenance and normal wear items would be great.

I've got 125k on mine and everything is still working awesome! I'd say the biggest(or most annoying thing) that could cause damage on these trucks is the intake gaskets. Other than that, GM made one damn solid truck, there's a reason this platform was alive for almost 10 years!
