Any of our northern members have much experience with Terra Grapplers in snow?

I'm moving up to 285/65/18's in the next two weeks and I keep going back and forth with these vs BFG AT (which i've had previously). Mine is a daily driver with mainly highway miles but i do see a good amount of snow on our frequent trips to the mountains.

I think you would be fine with either. I'd go with which one you like better...and which would last longer.

I just threw on Nitto Trail Grapplers 285/65/18's and love them. I do a lot of highway driving, but hit Tahoe a lot. So far they have been nice in the rain, and haven't seen too big of a hit on gas. Hitting Tahoe next weekend so I'll post how they do.

SW CT,
You should be good with the TerraGrapplers in that size, I had 305/55/20's and they tended to float alittle in the snow, swapped them for same size TrailGrapplers and was a night and day difference in the snow, the Trails preformed much better, cut right through and felt alot more stable.

These tires burn way to quick, 8 months of use 30,000km they were gone. As well I did not like the winter performance, like hockey pucks on ice.

consider the toyo AT2s. looks better. latest tech as it was just updated this year. toyo owns nitto fyi (literally speaking).

nittos are their "budget" line. never understood why so many people take these over toyos.

I agree. Look into the New Toyo AT2's or look into the Cooper Zeon LTZ's

My 2 cents.

-Terras are good in snow and better than Trails when there is ice.
-Trails are better in deep snow. Not so good when there is ice.
-The BFGs I currently have on my FJ are not as good as the Nittos in snow or icy conditions. I will replace these with Nittos.
-So far the Trails have ~35k on them and easily have enough tread to last another 10k. Needed ~50 psi to maintain even tread wear and rotate routinely.
-Terras have lasted to at least 50k when they are properly maintained.
-Toyo vs. Nitto: I chose Nitto because I wanted a different quality tire (purchased the Trails when they first came out). 4WD magazine shootouts rank both tires above most of the competition with the Toyos typically slightly better than the Nittos. Very happy with the performance of the Nittos and I will be purchasing them again.

I ended up going with the Toyo AT2's. They were cheaper and you can't beat the mileage warranty.
