Hey guys,

Have had this truck for about 1/2 year now and love it. Have done just about everything maintenance wise on her, from the intake gasket to the spark plugs. 150k miles and purring like a kitten. She's the tow pig for the drift car. Probably found the only lifetime upper midwest truck that's rust free lol

Regardless,

It seems the windshield air vents are always open, regardless of where the climate control is set. I've had it set to the feet all winter long and noticed there was air coming out of the windshield vents too. It kept the windshield clear all the time so I never cared to fix it. BUT, warmer weather is coming and I'll be fixing the AC on her, and the dash vents are giving me some SUB-PAR airflow. Most of it is shooting out to the windshield. I want to be cold!

Is there a relatively easy accessible actuator that I can replace to close the defrost vents?

Thanks in advance!

lay on your back look up near the gas pedal you will see rods. try setting the vent to the dash position you want a pull on the rods it might free them up.

Cool. I'll dig around a bit tomorrow and see what I can come up with.

So I was digging around and found that one of the actuators controls both the foot/windshield vents. Actuator works perfectly and works smoothly. What I did find was the little spring loaded rod to the windshield door was disconnected. So, trying to find where the heck to connect it, the hinge it attaches to fell out of the climate control box? I pushed it back in as much as I could and hooked the rod back up and it works - no air coming through to the windshield unless I want it to.

NOW - it sure as heck seems like this hinge can pop itself back out again. Is there some sort of clip that holds this in place? I may have to cruise around in the junkyard and see how everything looks on another truck. I may try making my own little retainer and "weld" it into place so it doesn't pop out again.
