Well guys, I knew this day would prolly come sooner rather than later. Need your advice to see what my next course of action should be:
My 96 Yukon has 152,000 on the clock, and to my knowledge, the tranny has never been rebuilt. Always had a pretty good "clunk" when putting it in reverse, which I know is a sign that the tranny may be about to go.
Today, on my way to work, I stopped in at a gas station, ran in. Came back out, headed off down the highway. As I was accelerating, my truck wouldn't get out of 3rd gear. So I was concerned obviously.
Kept on going, just trying to make it work. About 5 miles later, my truck finally shifts into 4th, but the SES light comes on, and it won't shift into overdrive. So I guess my torque converter is toast.
So, what to do? I can't rebuild a tranny, and this is my DD. I do have a good shop locally, but I'm thinking I might want to go with a "new" tranny. Any advice? I'm not going to mod the engine or anything like. No 383 in my future, so what would you suggest my next step be?
Thanks!
