Thermostat issues and overheating

I have a heavily modified 2019 Tahoe. It has a fully built motor and a supercharger. Because of this I have a 160 degree thermostat to keep things cool. The problem is that the 160 degree thermostats that I’ve bought have not been reliable at all. Most of them last a few months and then will fail. When I pull them out I can see the wax leaked out.

My question is, would I be ok just deleting the thermostat and have the coolant always flowing? Or could someone recommend to me a good quality cooler thermostat?

This is the one I’ve been using and it’s failed on my three times now all within about 3 months of each other.

Yes on needing a thermostat. That’s odd that they’re failing do you test them once they’re out? @Joseph Garcia mand others have a supercharger. Maybe he can help.

I decided that I’m going to go back to the gm oem 200 degree thermostat. Then if I have overheating issues with it I’ll do some cooling system upgrades like a performance radiator. I think my problem is the 160 degree radiator is working too hard and it’s too hot and it’s causing it to expand too much which is breaking the seals and making the wax blow out like I’ve been seeing

I'm using a stock thermostat on my truck, and I have not seen any signs of overheating. Granted, we are in the middle of winter in New Hampshire.

Did you see signs of overheating before you installed the 160 degree thermostat?
