2013 Esky; installed VLEDS DRLs today and I was surprised how bright they are. They fit perfectly but I am wondering if anyone has any long term experience with these, especially heat. The plastic headlight fixtures are about a grand each if I discolor or otherwise damage them. I have no indication whether these bulbs run hot or not. Trying to keep this truck perfect; getting ready to trade.

bench test them. Hook them up to a battery and leave them on for awhile. I lost a set of headlight because of some crappy LEDs. THey would get hot and the glue would smoke a little bit everytime i drove and it ruind the inside of my lights. I have tested so many DRLs and settled on a US company on Ebay called Coolfix. they were 17$ and I have had them two years without issue and they are bright. i also bought the upper 194 turn signal LEDs

I powered one of these up with a 12V battery mounted under a sealed short plastic glass for 72 hours. While the bulb is too hot to touch, the glass (about 1” clearance) was only slightly warmed. No smoke or discoloration to the plastic glass. I asked VLEDS support about their experience, and this was their answer:

Your stock incandescent 5202 bulb runs about 520F. Our 5202_6_XTE2 LED bulb runs about 155-160F so you should not have any concerns with our LED bulbs causing an overheating issue.

Also your HID Headlights Bulbs run about 720F.

... (My comment): And as to the cost of the headlight unit from GM (which at least includes bulbs and ballast), in my experience Caddy stuff (worth it or not) costs $$$ when branded or truck specific. You know what you’re getting into when you buy one.

How did these work out? I'm actually looking at spending the cash to get all VLEDs for my Tahoe. I was looking there because its one of the few companies I've found that has switchbacks with the resistors already built in. Figured I'd buy everything from them so all is the same.

Out of curiousity, anyone know if the VLEDS low/high beam bulbs will fit due to the bracket behind the healight assembly?

This is the setup i'm looking to go with-

Any info would greatly be appreciated.

Doesn’t look like the H11 will fit. VLED states their H11 measures 31.5mm (from lip of the flange to the back of the bulb) which is just over 3cm. The distance between the edge of the bulb housing and the bracket is just UNDER 3cm.

I appreciate it. I havent been under the hood to measure the gap. May have to go with another, or just notch that bracket out i guess. Thanks for the info.

No problem. Yeah I ran into this problem a couple weeks ago. Had to return a pair of nice Hikari leds that were “supposed to fit”. When I contacted customer support about it they kept referring me to YouTube links on how to install the lights. I was like, no, I know how to install them they just don’t fit. So after I sent them that picture of the space between the bulb socket and the frame bracket and a picture of their bulb next to a tape measure they were like, uh I guess you’re right. Feel free to return them.
