I read the stickied post. One thing that is not talked about is the difference or preference between the obd1 (91-95) models to the obd2 (96-99) models. I've been looking at the 2 door model as I have always wanted one.

Personally leaning towards 96-99.

The OBD2 comes along with the vortec heads and Central sequential fuel injection for a horsepower and torque boost. Having driven both that and the TBI version, there isn't a huge difference in performance and I wouldn't let it keep me from buying one.

The OBD2 gets you a little easier diagnostics with a scanner, but counting check engine light flashes isn't so bad, either.

The fuel injection on the vortec can be trouble prone for some, but can be easily upgraded to the multiport version for a bit smoother throttle response.

I'd say it comes down to personal preference, whether you like the looks of the 92-94 or the 95-99 interior. In the end, I'd go for one in good condition that wasn't a teenager's first car.

^^^agree with that. Both are super reliable setups assuming the vehicle has been well maintained. I've had both eras and enjoyed both and had good luck with both. Would buy either one again in a heartbeat.

Good to hear, thank you. Put one on a rack yesterday and it was obvious they pressure washed the top half of the engine as the bottom half was coated in oil.

Something to keep in mind in case a seller tries to say otherwise, replacing the oil pan gasket on a 4x4 requires lifting the engine a little to remove the pan.
