Third brake light question

im trying to get it off to paint but having problems. does anyone knows how to remove the third brake light on a 01 tahoe? I remove the 2 screws but it doesnt budge. Thanks guys.



Btw , I did a search and couldnt find it.

I just changed mine in my 01 no replacable bulbs had to get the whole assembly. Mine came out pretty easy after removing the screws.

You have to pull on it. It is kinda of stuck in position. At least mine was. Little pull and it came out.

yep 1 piece. Didnt think about it, but do you have barn doors? Mine is not, i had to undo screws and have liftgate all the way up and pull the 3rd light through the hole in the gate, well the cutout for it anway. Kind of hard, but you wont break it, ive pulled pretty ******* mine and its still good. The rubber around the light is what is holding it up.

No problem. Should be even easier for you then since the doors aren't in the way.

yah mine was a pain, liftgate, just yanked real hard sucks that u cant replace the bulbs, thanks again GM for more moeny gone

Glad you got it, sounds like its the same even w/ barn doors. The yanking it out part. How much was it if you dont mind. Im thinking about getting a aftermarket one maybe. The gm ones seem to go out alot.
